Choose the colors of your favourite teams...

...And enter the field to play COACH!

(Thanks to Rick Partin for this presentation in English)

"I have played many games on American Football but not one as good as this."

If you know American Football you’ll like this boardgame very much.
It will be like seeing a real game, with passes, runs, receptions, tackles and much more. Play your cards and see what happens versus the play called by your opponent:
Touchdown Bombs, First Downs, Fumbles, Sacks, Interceptions...
All the normal plays that happen on a real Football field occur here, too.
If you do not know this sport and the above terminology,
it's impossible to explain all the rules and all the Football terms used on this short
rules sheet, so play COACH with a friend who knows American Football.
You’ll learn more about this fantastic sport as you play.
If you know American Football, you are well on the way to already playing COACH.

First of all, choose the colors of your favorite Teams.

As you see in the first picture, the combo colors of Helmet, Jersey and Pants you can order are many, recreating the colors of your favorite real teams. They are mounted on colored wooden disks of the colors you choose: for example the first combo, Black-Yellow, is perfectly mounted on a Yellow wooden disk (as in the picture to the left) or on a Black wooden disk: you choose, you order- Even the color of your own die!

The Offensive Team places the Pawn in possession of the ball, representing his Quarterback; the Defensive Team is represented by the athlete without the ball, which can be his Linebacker, Defensive End, Safety... The Player on Offense takes the Blue Cards, the Player on Defense takes the Red Cards; the CHAIN and the "Progression Line" must be placed where the action begins, after the Kickoff Return.

The Player on Offense takes the Blue Cards and chooses one call.

The Player on Defense takes the Red Cards and chooses one call.

The chosen Call Cards are placed face down on the table: Ready... Set... Go! Turn them over simultaneously and check the Table for the result. Examples: the calls 14 and H give a result of a 6-yard gain for the Offense. Then the first attempted TACKLE takes place:
the Offense (O) rolls its die, the Defense (D) rolls its die.
If the Offensive die roll is higher than the D roll, the Offense breaks the tackle and gets extra yards. If the D roll equals or is greater than the O roll, the gain stops on that line. Depending on the zone of the field where the tackle takes place, the Offense registers a different “progression” in yards gained: place the Progression Line along the sideline, with the “0” matching the line of scrimmage:

In theory, you can score a touchdown with any call... IN THEORY...

The "match-ups" among Offensive Calls and Defensive Calls are so different: you can have Complete Passes, Interceptions, Fumbles... Playing the Defensive Options you can Sack the Quarterback, making him lose yards, play the Blitz, place a "Prevent" Defense to allow short yardage but not a long pass or a Touchdown... everything you can face in a real match!

In the picture you see the first match with the game in its actual version, the fruit of 25 years of playtesting since when I was the Quarterback of the Pythons Milano: COACH has existed since those days. Now it is available for all interested players worldwide:)

Official Presentation in Italy LudiComix2013, BoardGame Fair, where I was invited as Host of Honour by its organizers who play Touch Football: I would say that the presentation of COACH here was more than I anticipated:)

Alex, an Italian-American, and Livio, coordinator of Games, with whom we played Touch Football the day before the Fair, learned this boardgame that same night: look at the concentration in their eyes, like to play poker;)

Why Angelo in all the fairs where is Invited and hosted, wears the Jersey of BoardGameGeek, the most famous website about BoardGames worldwide?

It is a kind gift of the two founders of this site, Scott Alden and Derk Solko who meet me at my booth in Essen Spiel Germany when I presented them my first multi awarded game Warangel in 2010 and then in 2011 Assist the card game we are playing in this picture.

I understand that is not so common to meet an illustrator, author of games from Italy who was also a Quarterback and now a Coach of this fantastic sport:)

Thanks to BoardGameGeek for the page rich of interviews and articles that allows me to be known and contacted by gamers from allover the world!

Read and see the history of this jersey and of BoardGameGeek Team in these Photoreport and in these VIDEO:)

Essen Spiel 2010

Essen Spiel 2011

Now the Fairs that invite and host me as Coordinator of Area Autoproduzione (Self Production Area) are more than 50 and the Authors inscribed to this idea more than 100. For Essen Spiel I create the contacts for many of them. This year, just before Essen, I will be Host Fair of Art and Creativity in Rome and then in LuccaGames that awarded 13 years ago Warangel as Best Italian Game.
